Description
Developing and translating knowledge, attitudes and skills for family health promotion practice across the life span is necessary for the 21st century health care and public health delivery systems. Unfortunately, family nursing content and skills is usually either overlooked or undervalued when developing and implementing nursing educational programs or curricula. In this webinar, the presenters will share two U.S based innovative family health promotion simulation scenarios for undergraduate pre-licensure nursing students. Specifically, participants will be introduced to how educators can facilitate the role of the family health nurse, family health assessment and intervention skills to students in a home setting.

Learning Objectives

    1. Develop a family health promotion simulation scenario to facilitate family health assessment and intervention skills for working with a family with a teenage client within the context of the family and community.
    2. Develop a family health promotion simulation scenario to facilitate family health assessment and intervention skills for working with a family with a geriatric client within the context of the family and community.
    3. Establish quality improvement strategies for the family health promotion scenarios in a home setting.

    Target Audience
The primary target audience for this webinar is nursing educators teaching family nursing courses and public health nursing courses and nursing simulation directors/coordinators. Secondary target audience includes nursing preceptors, nurse administrators as well as nurse clinicians.
